Audio Journeys explores Stift Melk Abby. This important bishopric was once a day’s horse ride from Vienna for the kings; today Melk Abby is a smooth overnight sail on a Viking River Cruise. Melk Abby, a very large UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site, was not damaged during World War II. We are on a walking tour throughout the rooms and halls of the Abby.

The Rainbow Forest Museum is at the southern entrance to the park. Everywhere we walk, lying on the ground are sections of ancient trees that turned to brightly colored stone beginning 225 million years ago.

Off the beaten path, these two sites are extremely important to Native Americans of the area.

We arrive in San Jose from a small boat across Lake Petén Itzá. There are few roads into the region. This quiet lakeside hill town has a Mayan and Spanish Language School. After a pleasant walk up the hill from the school, we find botanists preserving the traditional Mayan medicinal plants in gardens where signs help visitors with identification.

Audio Journeys is at the annual Oostende sailing ship festival on the old freight docks of this once very busy seaport.

In the seaport town of Oostende on the last weekend in May, one of the world's largest sailing-ship festivals is held. There are many ships to explore and much activity when we arrive on the docks of Oostende; announcers, marching bands, and battle-ship reenactments fill our senses. The first person we meet is a musketeer and one of the Festival's organizers.

Audio Journeys explores Copan, the ancient cultural center of Honduras. For years, Copán has been renowned for its magnificent Mayan ruins, a designated World Heritage Site believed by archeologists to be the cultural center, the Paris, of the Maya world.

In 1867 the Dominion of Canada was formed. In 1931 Canada became an independent nation within the Commonwealth. We are exploring Ottawa, Canada's Capital, in the Province of Ontario. Our exploration begins on Parliament Hill and ends across the Ottawa River at the Civilization Museum.

Audio Journeys by Travel Radio International explores the 2,000-year-old Roman city of Trier, Germany. With our Historic Highlights of Germany guide, we walk through a garden with a beautiful water fountain,to the ruins of a large Roman thermal bath complex that built by order of the Emperor Constantine in the third century. It was never finished, but today it is a tourist destination and a stage for live theater.

The Baltimore Clipper ship Frolic was bound from Canton, China, to San Francisco with household goods for gold miners. The shipwreck of the Frolic lead to the founding of the town of Mendocino, California, and the discovery of redwood trees. We speak with archeologists who are studying this important early California event. The Frolic Shipwreck is now a California Underwater State Park.

Audio Journeys explores the Tamastslikt Cultural Institute in Pendleton, Oregon. This 35,000-square-foot cultural center is a working monument to the past, present, and future of three native tribes of southeastern Oregon. Tamástslikt celebrates the traditions of Cayuse, Umatilla, and Walla Walla Tribes. It means turning something over. The Center's education manager is our guide.

Audio Journeys exploration of The Cornell Lab, one of the largest nature research and conservation organizations in the world, continues behind the scenes with researchers and biologists.

Audio Journeys by Travel Radio International explores one of the wildest towns in the West. At the end of a box canyon, near precious metal deposits, Deadwood lured such famous Old West characters as Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane. Deadwood might have been torn down and forgotten, except that it also holds the distinction of being the town where an angry assailant killed Wild Bill Hickok while he was on his honeymoon.
