Kym is forced to reckon with the fact that she needs outside help to deal with Trevante acting out at school because of his learning differences.

Monique, Trevante’s birth mother has no choice but to place her son under Kym’s guardianship due to her inability to provide a stable home. Kym’s best friend Myra, (played by Sherri Shepherd) is having none of it.

Kym takes the dizzying ride of getting Trevante properly evaluated, while revisiting a long term off and on romantic relationship.

Kym has her first meeting with Trevante’s educational therapist (played by Cynthia Erivo), which leaves her ego and parental confidence feeling bruised.

Myra tells Kym that she self-sabotages herself, which is why she isn’t a star. Kym seeks out the advice of her friend Jenifer Lewis (played by Jenifer Lewis), who doles out wisdom while soaking in a hot tub.
